10 things from the latest National Committee Meeting

The national committee’s latest meeting took place in January with a strong focus on SVW but also with lots of other exciting things.

  1. Our action plan for the year has been finalised and our objectives set. This will be shared on the website soon.
  2. With so many Network Development Officers the network is continuing to grow! We are recruiting new members across all regions and are this year looking at how to further increase our FE and nations membership.
  3. We completed our annual membership check to keep our lists up to date and seek feedback from our members. Thank you to everyone who took part!
  4. Engagement on our social media channels are increasing! Do you follow us on Twitter or Facebook?
  5. The network made the #iwill pledge in November pledging to ‘Support student civic engagement through Student Volunteer Week’
  6. The network’s funds have moved to NUS and a new procedure for the committee has been developed to fit current practice.
  7. We have been investigating the possibility of training opportunities as well as well as webinars that could be open to members.
  8. The new website is coming along nicely with new functionalities being explored. There are already a number of great resources available to members and don’t forget you can log on and create your membership here.
  9. SVW is steadily approaching! Once again it will be run by the network and this year is hosted on our new website. You can register now here.
  10. The SVN Annual Conference has been confirmed and will once again form part of the NUS Membership Services Conference (15 th -16 th August, Leeds University Students’ Union). The call for sessions will go out at the end of this month’s so keep your eyes peeled!
