10am-11am: Supporting Students with Wellbeing, Resilience and Personal Development (register now) - Fiona Walsh, Partnerships and Development Director at StudentHubs
Student Hubs takes an embedded approach to wellbeing support through our volunteering, placement and extracurricular activities, with 84% of students in 2020-21 agreeing that our activities enhanced their wellbeing. This session is an opportunity for us to model our practice for you to consider for your own student activities, for session participants to share their reflections
and thoughts on their own practice in wellbeing support for students, and to review the content for yourself and your own personal development in what has been a challenging year for the
sector.
1pm-2pm: Community Engaged Learning - who carries the load? (register now) - Andy Coppins
An overview of Community Engaged Learning (a proven, high impact way of learning that enables students, in collaboration with local organisations, to directly address identified real life issues related to their course subject) will be given, with some examples of how this has been implemented at NTU, and the national context for the development of this work. The wider context within which CEL is becoming increasingly popular will also be considered and will be followed by a discussion for attendees to explore what implications this has for Student Volunteering professionals, how volunteering is affected by the increase in CEL and the impact on their relationships with community partners and the possible load they bear in relation to CEL.
2.30pm-3.30pm: Brokerage Services – Learnings from our First Year (register now) - John Rowbotham
Back in October, we launched our new brokerage system after months of research, planning and preparation. In this session, we’d like to share why we chose to implement a brokerage system, the challenges and benefits we’ve found, and some of the things we learned along the way.
