Next week is Student Volunteering Week, and we’re excited to share that the Student Volunteering Network (SVN) is looking for new members. So what is SVN, and how can you get involved?

Student Volunteering Network (SVN)

SVN is a space for professionals who work in the student volunteering sector to come together, share, learn and engage with a community who have the same aim of encouraging students to volunteer in their communities.

Through our network, we offer the following opportunities for our members:

  • Student Volunteering Week: Every SVW we provide resources, communications, support and case studies to celebrate student volunteering across the country, so make sure to follow our social media accounts and share with the hashtag #SVW2021
  • Email mailing list: Your one-stop shop for any questions you want to put to the members, gaining expertise from your community, and navigating challenges that other colleagues in different universities or organisations may have already faced
  • Online portal: Our website has a bank of resources and training which you can access as a member on a variety of topics, issues and training sessions
  • Regional meetings and groups: Once a member, you can join your regional group. Regions have chairs who call meetings 2-3 times a year, for SVN members in similar geographic areas to network, share challenges and connect with each other
  • Events: Every year we support a conference event, with our August 2020 event being an online-only conference event for the first time
  • Committee: Help shape the network, regularly engage with colleagues and professionally develop as part of our SVN Committee, which has also been facilitated wholly online this year.

Becoming a member

To become a member, all you need to do is email info@studentvolunteeringnetwork.co.uk and ask to join. From there, you will be added to our email mailing list and our online web portal, where you can find out more about joining your regional group and other information.

Upcoming opportunities

  • Join us in celebrating Student Volunteering Week from Monday 8th - Sunday 14th February, with this year’s theme being #LoveYourCommunity
  • Look out for opportunities to join our SVN Committee in May
  • We expect to run another (likely virtual) conference in the summer, with details (including requests to present) to be announced via our social media after Easter

Why wait? Join SVN today!

We would love to welcome you to the network and connect with our members, so get in touch and we look forward to sharing more about what the Student Volunteering Network is up to soon!
